How to Meditate for success

Meditation is one of the most powerful tools you can use to improve the quality of your life.

Having been practiced for centuries, it is a fantastic and relaxing activity to do daily. It’s easy, anyone can do it and it’s free!

If you truly want success in your life, try adding a simple 15 minute practice of meditation into it daily.

How I use meditation

I have had a fair share of success in my life, having worked with 4 out of 10 of the largest corporations in the world. But, honestly it’s only when I incorporated meditation into my day-to-day life that things truly started to shift for me.

Whilst I had monetary and career success, I suffered greatly health and relationship wise before learning to meditate. Once I learned to incorporate this practice into my own life each day – my idea of what success looks like changed as well.

I realized for me, it wasn’t about the brands I worked with or the money in my account (although they are amazing) success for me was about striking a balance between all aspects of my personal and professional life. And it’s meditation that helps to not only guide me through, but keep me on the path and keep my head clear during difficult times.

How meditation can help you

If you’ve gotten to the point where you forgot what it means to take care of y

Whilst there are many different types of meditation available and different ways of meditating including:

  1. Focused attention
  2. Body scan
  3. Noting
  4. Visualization
  5. Loving Kindness
  6. Skillful compassion
  7. Resting awareness
  8. Reflection

The truth is there is only one thing you need to concern yourself with in meditation. That’s simply – Focusing on the present moment.

Meditation, like any practice takes time. But the more you do it, the easier it gets.

Meditation is a great way for you to delve deep into your subconscious and you may be surprised at what you learn about yourself.

Feeling your emotions

Spending time alone in meditation is incredibly useful to help us to get in touch with our emotions. Which I hasten to add is one of the most important steps in understanding who we truly are. And conversely our reasons for wanting the success in the first place.

By going deeper into our thoughts we can uncover what’s truly driving our decisions in life, what our motivators are. And in turn how we can create a plan to reach our ultimate goal.

When meditating on success, feel your emotions, and really get clear on your TRUE definition of what success looks like to you.

Don’t be so serious

I know it’s hard to sit still and try to quiet the mind. But that doesn’t mean you can’t make the process of meditating enjoyable.  As an example, I have a favorite shawl I wear and light a beautiful scented candle before I meditate to get myself into the mood.

But sometimes I know sitting still in a quiet place is not always possible. In fact I would argue if you’re a business owner and feel like you’re chained to your desk most days, that actually taking a walking meditation would be more enjoyable.

There’s nothing stopping you from taking your meditation on a walk with you. Just try to focus on the moment you are in and I promise you it will get easier.

Shifting focus

Once you’ve figured out what success looks like to you. Then you can focus on the steps you need to go through to get there.

Remember each moment brings the chance to learn something new. You may find that you change your mind during your practice and decide your idea of success looks completely different. If that’s the case, just go with the flow. Nothing is ever set in stone.

Affirmations are easy

If you are still struggling with meditating, why not try some positive affirmations.

They are a great way to help your mind focus. As an example you could use previous successes in your affirmations to remind yourself of how far you’ve already come in life:

Try something like:

  1. I’ve already had success in my life
  2. I know what success looks and feels like
  3. I’ve had success in [Insert whatever you want here]
  4. Success has flooded into my life in the past and it will again

Truly spend time feel each word as you chant them to yourself either silently or out loud.

So there you have it, a simple way to incorporate meditation into your life to help guide you to your vision of success.
