Welcome to #MindfulMarch Day 7
We all have an inner voice, sometimes critical, sometimes silly, sometimes it’s just plain weird. Did you know we have on average 50,000 to 60,000 thoughts a day. So we often let that inner voice chatter away in the background without paying that much attention to it.
So today’s task is simple – just listen to the inner voice and notice how you speak to yourself.
For many, this can be quite shocking, and I’ve often heard it said that if someone spoke to me the way I speak to myself they wouldn’t give that person the time of day. The truth is that this inner voice has evolved over millennia. And its focus is to protect us from hurting ourselves, for instance as a caveman being ostracized from the tribe. But obviously, it needs to adapt to the new pressures of living in today’s fast-paced world where we now feel like we are in mortal danger if our friends argue back on Facebook.
Regardless of how your day pans out, whether you do something your inner voice thinks is right or wrong, just listen and notice how you speak to yourself.
